Nancarrow Farm is one of my favourite countryside wedding venues in Cornwall to photograph. Harriet and Don chose this beautiful organic farm near St Agnes for their Nancarrow Farm wedding, and from the moment you arrive you know it is going to be a special day. With its rustic barns, orchards and rolling Cornish fields, it is the perfect setting for a relaxed barn wedding in Cornwall.
The couple were drawn to my documentary approach as their Nancarrow Farm wedding photographer, wanting natural images that captured the atmosphere, humour and candid moments they might otherwise miss. Days like this are exactly why I love photographing weddings at Nancarrow Farm.
A Morning Sea Swim in St Agnes
The day began early with a bracing dip in the Cornish sea. I met Don and his groomsmen in St Agnes at 7.30am as they ran straight into the freezing water in May. Capturing these unscripted moments is what documentary wedding photography is all about. A wedding story does not begin at the ceremony. It unfolds from the very first moments of the day.
Rustic Barn Ceremony at Nancarrow Farm
After the morning swim, preparations continued back at Nancarrow Farm before a beautiful ceremony inside the iconic A frame wooden barn. The soft natural light and timber beams create such a warm and intimate atmosphere, which is one of the reasons this Cornwall barn wedding venue is so popular with couples planning a relaxed countryside celebration.
