Salcombe Wedding at Cliff House, Devon

Freddie & Imi’s wedding in Salcombe, Devon

Freddie and his partner wanted a photographer who could blend seamlessly into their wedding day, capturing genuine moments without being intrusive. The day began with a classic Devon coastal start, a morning sea dip at 9am. The wedding crew plunged into the cold water, laughter and shouts filling the air, a human, unfiltered moment that set the tone for the celebrations.

After warming up, I joined the couple for morning preparations, quietly observing and photographing the small moments as everyone got ready. The ceremony was held at Cliff House, perched above the sea with stunning views of rolling hills and coastline. Personal vows and readings created an intimate atmosphere, and the quiet, emotional moments were perfect for a documentary approach.

One of my favourite parts of the day was following the couple on their walk from Cliff House to North Sands beach. They spent time dipping their toes in the water, enjoying the moment with their favourite people. The meal was hosted by the Winking Prawn restaurant right on the beach, perfectly relaxed and scenic. As the evening drew in, the wedding crew lit torches and carried the flames back into town to the Victoria Inn pub, where everyone joined a small shanty performance, singing, dancing, and celebrating together. What a day to remember.

As a documentary wedding photographer, I love capturing celebrations that feel natural, personal, and rooted in their location. Salcombe offers something truly special, sea air, movement, and the freedom to let the day unfold naturally.

If you are planning a wedding in Salcombe or along the Devon coast and want relaxed, unobtrusive photography, I would love to hear about your plans.
