Summer Garden wedding, Suffolk
Scarlett & Ryan’s Family Garden Wedding in Suffolk
This summer garden wedding in Suffolk took place at the bride’s family home, surrounded by open fields and blooming poppies. Home weddings like this always have a unique, relaxed energy, everyone knows the space, feels comfortable, and the day unfolds naturally. From the playful start with a surprise inflatable boat entrance to quiet moments in the garden, the whole day captured the personality of the couple while letting the surroundings tell part of the story.
Guests gathered on the lawn expecting a fairly traditional entrance. Instead, the bride appeared sailing down the small stream that runs through the garden, arriving in an inflatable boat with her dad. It was a complete surprise. You could hear the cheering before you could properly see her, and when she finally came into view near the ceremony space the reaction was brilliant. It set the tone immediately. Relaxed, playful, and completely them.
The ceremony itself was short and intentionally low key. No drawn-out formalities, no unnecessary structure. They were keen to get straight into drinks, music, and spending time with everyone properly.
Photographing weddings at home is always special. There’s something about working in a place that already holds years of memories. I find people are more comfortable, more themselves. It also gives me more to work with visually. Objects around the house, small details in the garden, the way rooms connect to the outside space. All of it becomes part of the story.
Their approach suited a documentary style perfectly. Let the day move as it wants to. No long photoshoots pulling them away from the party. Just space to be present and enjoy it
